Game description:
Takedown is a tactical action game developed by Serellan LLC, studio founded by Christian Allen, a game designer who in the past worked on such titles as Tom Clancy 's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter and Halo: Reach. Apart from him, the team consists of people who previously worked at Bungie Studios, Monolith, and Ubisoft. Takedown takes inspiration from tactical simulators like the first installments of Rainbow Six or SWAT series. The game is set in the modern day. The player takes on the role of the head of a private military company and performs missions for various employers around the world. Among the available tasks there are: freeing hostages, bodyguarding, or assassinations. There is no campaign mode in the game, but a number of missions unrelated with one another. The authors put stress mainly on realism and planning. Prior to every mission the player can choose suitable weapons and equipment. The very clashes mainly focus on fighting in confined spaces. The gameplay is designed to be tactical, but the authors did not include a possibility of giving commands to AI-controlled squad members the only available commands are to keep the position or follow the player. The game leaves out many solutions that aim to make the gameplay easier and are considered to be staples of action games. Therefore, in Takedown there is no self-regenerating health, so if a member of the squad is injured, hiding behind a wall and waiting for a few seconds will not bring him to full strength. Takedown also offers multiplayer, both in co-op mode against AI-controlled enemies, as well as in competitive modes, where two teams of players fight each other. Takedown is an independent project funded with money provided by players. To create alpha version of the game, its authors collected $200.000. Last updated on 21 November 2014
