J-Stars Victory VS+, released on PS4, PS3 and PSV, is a 3D team fighting game that takes place in large and open arenas. The game was created as a special project to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, published by the Japanese publishing house Shueisha. The pages of the magazine have regularly published and continue to publish chapters of the world's most popular manga series every week. J-Stars Victory VS+ is a great treat for fans of Japanese comic books because it allows you to play as the most recognizable manga characters. Namco Bandai and Spike Chunsoft studio are responsible for creating the title. The production is a new edition of J-Stars Victory VS, which in 2014 was released only in Asia on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita. In addition to numerous minor gameplay fixes, the improved version also has a full-fledged arcade mode, in which we fight a series of connected battles. MechanicsPlayers can choose from a wide range of characters from a variety of series that debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, as well as several other related magazines. These are comic books such as Naruto, One Piece, DragonBall Z, Toriko, Gintama, Bleach, HunterxHunter, Kenshin, Nisekoi, Medaka Box, Yu Yu Hakusho, Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Koen Mae Hashutsujoi and several others. Individual series are represented by one or more heroes. Every character is voiced by the same person who voiced them in their animated adaptation. The gameplay model is very similar to Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs. released on PlayStation 3, which shouldn't come as a surprise as the developers used the same engine and similar solutions. While playing, two teams of two heroes chosen by us face each other. In a single match, the second character is controlled by an AI. Players also select a third character who acts as a support during fights and is summoned only when needed. The arenas, inspired by the different manga series, are large and open, and players can move freely around them. The characters have four types of attacks: regular, strengthened, ranged and special. Depending on the hero, the fighting style can vary considerably. Some prefer to fight at a distance, others prefer to have direct contact with their opponents. The team that fills up its winning indicator wins. We fill it up by defeating enemies. During the matches, we can also use a spectacular special team attack which deals massive damage to enemies. Technical aspectsThe developers have tried to capture in 3D the many different graphic styles of the Weekly Jump series. The creators, however, decided not to use the cell-shading technique but instead prepared quite realistic character models, accompanied by great-looking and spectacular animations.
