Game description:
Mobile edition of the classic 1988 action game from Cinemaware. The title is an exact copy of the original and is run thanks to software emulation of the Amiga computer, on which it was originally released. The original content of the game is complemented by the use of touch screens and mobile game controllers, as well as the original manual. The year is 1940. Germans have conquered most of Europe and are preparing for a much larger operation, which is to cover the whole world. The Lunarium, a cosmic mineral that can only be found on the Moon, is supposed to help them to do this. It is the main component of the rocket fuel necessary for the mass production of the ballistic missiles with which the Nazis want to bring the world to its knees. However, there is hope that their plans will be thwarted. American scientists, based on the Lunarium stolen from the Germans, have developed a prototype of a jetpack that can carry a single soldier wherever he wants. A special agent, known to the wider public as Rocket Ranger, was selected to become its operator. The main task of the title character is to collect 500 pieces of Lunarium and all components of German missiles. With the help of this assortment, the Rocket Ranger's laboratory will create a special version of the jetpack, which will be able to take us to the Moon. All key elements are located in heavily guarded German military bases. Before we are able to infiltrate them, we must first use the services of our intelligence network, which will determine in which ports the equipment we are looking for is located. Giving orders to spies is the only strategic aspect of the game. We can determine whether our agents are to work faster or not (in the latter case there is less chance of getting into trouble). In addition, we can group all the spies together, which increases the chances of defeating the Nazi regime. With more information, we can join the action. We start by distributing the Lunarium (it's worth remembering that it's better to take more of it during longer journeys), then there's a rather cumbersome take-off and finally the flight. While in the air, we are attacking enemy targets, such as Luftwaffe planes or airships. Here the gameplay becomes typically arcade (our manual skills are more important than strategic planning). In Rocket Ranger, Cinemaware has once again reached for a tried and tested model of creating a product that cannot be pigeonholed. The game offers elements of a classic action game, adventure game and an extremely important strategic factor. They are of no value separately, but when we combine them together and explore the resulting conglomerate, it turns out that Rocket Ranger is a great proposition for enthusiasts of demanding entertainment.
