Game description:
Amok is a three-dimensional shooting seen from the perspective of a third person, in which we play the role of Gert Staun a mercenary piloting a combat vehicle called Slambird. Our hero is hired by the Office, an underground organization that wants to create a conflict between the two powerful corporations that rule the eponymous planet. We will do this by performing a series of sabotage actions, weakening both fractions. The struggle in Amok was divided into nine large missions, taking place in different sceneries (desert, ocean floor, ruined city and underground caves). In each scenario, the commanding officer commissions us to carry out specific tasks in most cases a generator or other building has to be razed to the ground. Of course, there are plenty of enemies on the way to the target, from soldiers on sharks to underwater stages. The mission goals are known before the start of the game, but they are also displayed during the game, along with an arrow for easy orientation. Once you have done the work of destruction, you have to leave the level through a special exit in the meantime, you can try to find hidden locations, of which there are at least a few in each mission. As mentioned above, the action in Amok is observed from the perspective of a third person. The game allows you to select one of three views that bring the camera closer to the controlled vehicle. The slambird is controlled by means of a keyboard (there is no mouse control option), in the style typical for early FPS there is also the possibility of running and walking sideways. During the struggle we have an energy gun with unlimited ammunition and limited missiles and bombs. The latter are useful for the extermination of minefields. The product from Scavenger, Inc. is a decent conversion from the SEGA Saturn console and has a very nice workmanship. An efficient engine, working in both low and high resolution, is responsible for generating the visual setting. Unfortunately, not all objects in Amok are three-dimensional.
