Medieval: Total War for PC is a continuation of the popular, award winning series of strategy games created by Creative Assembly. After Far East themes in Shogun: Total War, we are taken to more familiar world of medieval Europe. MechanicsWe can control one of twelve most powerful countries in the medieval Europe. The game connects military elements with trade, diplomacy, and resource managing. Around 100 different types of troops have been prepared, equipped with authentic weaponry from the era (among others, bows, muskets, cannons, or catapults). Similarly to Shogun: Total War, the gameplay has been separated into two parts i.e. battle part and kingdom management part where we govern the whole kingdom. The battles take place in real-time, in a full-3D environment (deserts, forests, plains, mountains, etc.). The game uses an improved Shogun: Total War engine, resulting in battlefields that are four times bigger than those in Shogun, with up to 10 thousand units participating in the encounters. The kingdom management part plays out in turn-based mode. Here, the players can build their own empire, creating strategic alliances, setting trade routes, discover new technologies, build castles, or creating a land or naval powerhouse. GameplayThe campaigns are based on historical events, such as the Crusades, the Mongol invasion, or the Hundred Years War. They have been separated into three parts: events of early, high, and late Middle Ages. During our campaigns and journeys, we will encounter famous personas from history, including Joanna d?Arc, Richard the Lionheart, Ed Cid, and William Wallace. The developers applied serious improvements to A.I. ? now, the mental state (breakdowns, heroism, etc.) of the units is governed by a three-stage system simulating the behavior of military formations on army, unit, and individual level. Of course, the commanding skills of computer opponents have been improved, they are quicker to react to the situation on the battlefield, and can employ very refined tactics. Medieval: Total War for PC offers singleplayer and multiplayer modes. The multiplayer modes use special maps that can be a background to many interesting modes (among others, King of the Hill, Siege and Assassin). The game contains a map editor.
