Game description:
The Lord of the Rings: The White Council is a cRPG title, set in the extremely popular universe created by J. R. R. Tolkien. The devs compared their work to TES IV: Oblivion in both titles we are dealing with a huge world, which we can traverse in search of adventures and experience, and everything is connected with an intriguing and expressive plot. The action takes place about eighty years before the events known from The Lord of the Rings. Our character, created at the beginning of the game, starts the game as an ordinary adventurer, and their task is to become an agent of the title White Council. The Council consists of heroes known to all lovers of Tolkien's works: Elrond, Galadriel, Gandalf, Cirdan, Radagast and Saruman. This group, deeply concerned about the evil reborn in Dol Guldur Fortress, is looking for someone courageous and clever enough to investigate the case. However, before we are able to face this challenge, we need to learn a lot and acquire a lot of skills. The task is made possible by the unhindered ability to travel around the game world. The main intrigue does not force us to constantly follow orders, and we have plenty of time to do everything at our own discretion. We create the character of the hero by choosing one of four good races of Middle-earth: Men, Hobbits, Elves and Dwarves. The creators decided not to create classes suited for only one race, so we are dealing with a few basic archetypes from fantasy and RPGs, e.g.: warrior, sorcerer, hunter, etc. For the sake of variety, it was decided to slightly modify the individual classes, so that, for example, a dwarven warrior had a little different skills than his counterpart of the race of Men. The choice of profession influences the type of skills, but it also has an additional meaning for each class there is a set of several side quests prepared. In the course of the adventure we will encounter many a bad creature inhabiting Tolkien's world (from goblins to a powerful dragon), so it is worth mentioning the combat system. Here the gentlemen from EA decided to look for inspiration in other video game adaptations of Tolkien's works. So we are dealing with a combination of arcade elements (taken from LOTR: The Two Towers and LOTR: The Return of the King) and tactical elements, typical for the cRPG genre (which, in turn, were based on LOTR: Third Age). Therefore, the player has to master real-time combat and take into account their current equipment (armor, weapon, etc.) and the character's level. Last updated on 10 December 2007
