Yakuza 5 Remastered is a remastered version of Yakuza 5; at the time of release, the original was the most extensive installment of the series. The game was released by Sega. StoryThe action of Yakuza 5 Remastered takes place two years after the events presented in the previous installment of the series. Kazuma Kiryu has abandoned his gangster life for a taxi driver's work in Fukuoka; unfortunately, things don't go his way, because, with the outbreak of war between the Tojo clan and the Omi covenant, Kiryu must once again return to the criminal path. "The Dragon of Dojima" is not the only playable hero; while playing, we also play as Shun Akiyama (who came to Osaka for business purposes), Taiga Saejima (serving three years in prison), Tatsuo Shinada (a former baseball player) and finally Haruka (Kazuma's adoptive daughter, who appears in games from the first installment of the series). In addition to the main plot of the game, there are side stories about each character. MechanicsIn Yakuza 5 Remastered we observe the action from third-person perspective. The devs offer five fictional districts modeled on the real districts of Japanese cities: Kamurocho in Tokyo (modeled on Kabukicho), Sotenbori in Osaka (the equivalent of the real Dotonbori), Nagasugai in Fukuoka (inspired by Nakasu), a part of Sapporo modeled on Susukino and Kin'eicho, a fictional version of Sakae in Nagoya city. Each of them has an open character, and while traversing their streets, we perform story tasks, undertake various side activities and play a number of mini-games. Among the latter, the leading ones are Sega classics, i.e. arcade machine versions of Virtua Fighter 2 and Taiko: Drum Master; however, clubs with hostesses, karaoke or even snowball battles are also worthy of attention. In addition, nothing stands in the way of Kazuma working as a taxi driver, or trying our hand in dancing as Haruka, while as Saejima, we can go hunting in the mountains of Hokkaido. Of course, the game does not lack a series of fist fights that are the hallmark of the series, in which success is ensured primarily by skillful juggling with available attacks and chaining attacks into spectacular combinations; at the same time, individual heroes have unique moveseys, the range of which we broaden as we progress. Technical aspectsWhile working on Yakuza 5 Remastered, the devs focused on improving the quality of visuals, so that the title offers resolution of 1080p and 60 frames per second.
