Dungeon Defenders II is a multiplayer game, which offers cooperative tower defense skirmishes, as well as online battles based on the extremely popular MOBA productions. The title was developed by the Trendy Entertainment studio, who have also been responsible for the previous installment of Dungeon Defenders. The title features a co-op mode known to the fans of the game?s predecessor, where a group of players joins forces to defeat waves of increasingly difficult AI-controlled enemies. The characters have a set of special abilities at their disposal, and can also construct defensive structures. The developers have made a lot of improvements in comparison to the first Dungeon Defenders production; additional heroes and enemy types have been added into the game, along with numerous watchtowers and items. Individual dungeon levels have been connected by a mini-world on the surface, which can hold up to 24 players. Besides the co-op games, Dungeon Defenders II also offers a competitive game mode based on games from the MOBA genre, enhanced with various tower defense elements; in the mode itself, two teams of five players try to destroy the enemy towers, while also preventing the other group from doing the same to their own structures. The pool of heroes is identical for both of the gameplay types, which allows the player to use the items he has gathered both against the AI, and the other players. As opposed to the first installment, Dungeon Defenders II features a free-to-play business model with microtransactions. In that respect the developers have drawn inspiration from the renowned League of Legends, which is why the in-game virtual store features mostly heroes.
