Soundfall is a hybrid of several genres, as it combines roguelike, twin-stick shooter and rhythm game elements. The title was developed by the independent Drastic Games studio, founded by former Epic Games employees. StoryThe main character of Soundfall is Melody, a young audiophile who has been thrown into a musical land called Symphony. The protagonist must not only find her way home but also defend the world from a dark force known as the Discord. MechanicsIn Soundfall, the action is shown in an isometric view. At first glance, the gameplay does not differ from the pattern characteristic for roguelike titles. Over the course of the game, we travel through procedurally generated locations, fight against hordes of enemies with the use of melee weapons and firearms, and acquire more and more powerful equipment. In comparison to other games of this type, the described title is distinguished by the fact that everything happens to the rhythm of music, and the world presented here reacts not only to individual songs but also to individual tones. In addition, we have to adapt to the rhythm of the songs when trying to execute attacks and evade incoming blows, for which we are additionally rewarded. Game modesSoundfall can be played in singleplayer or with up to three people, in an online or a local cooperation mode. Technical issuesSoundfall operates on the basis of Unreal Engine 4 technology. The three-dimensional graphics of this production are kept in a colourful, cartoony style. The gameplay is accompanied by a dynamic, trance soundtrack.
