Rhythm Sprout is an action adventure game very visibly inspired by rhythm games. It was developed by the independent studio SURT and published by tinyBuild. PlotThe story of Rhythm Sprout is humorous and full of pop-culture references. The game takes place in Vegetable Kingdom. Its protagonist is Sprout, the Chosen Onion, facing the invaders threatening the realm. MechanicsThe gameplay of Rhythm Sprout is shown from the third-person perspective (TPP). The game follows the beat of the music, forcing us to show off our reflexes and the sense of rhythm. This is true especially during combat; Sprout will face both regular enemies and powerful bosses on his adventure. Exploring Vegetable Kingdom also follows the beat of the soundtrack. Progressing through the game unlocks new outfits for Sprout and new weapon skins. The game features several difficulty levels, thus offering something both to veterans of the genre, and those new to rhythm games. There are various modifiers dedicated to advanced players; these include a turbo mode to speed up the songs, mirror mode to test muscle memory, random mode to test improvisation skills and the possibility to shuffle notes (compositions created this way can be shared with other players). This is all topped off by highest-difficulty remixes and flashy bonus stages. Technical aspectsThe visuals of Rhythm Sprout are colorful and cartoonish.
