Overlord 2 for PC, PS3 and X360 is a return to the concept presented in the first installment of the series, which was released in 2007 by Codemasters Software. Once again it is an action third-person perspective game in which the player assumes the role of an evil lord of darkness. His task is to take over the fantasy world. The game was developed by Triumph Studios, the creators of Age of Wonders strategy game. PlotThe game is similar to its predecessor. The player assumes the role of an antihero who starts his dark career. The objective is to become a powerful and terrifying ruler who is respected by all. Only one, tiny obstacle stands in the player?s way ? a great empire based on the Roman Empire, the leaders of which are also intending to conquer the world and rid it of all magic. The player must take over kingdoms and eliminate the human opposition. MechanicsThe minions are the key to victory. The game is based on an interesting concept ? the player controls his character directly, but he can also summon his followers over which he has complete control. The developers put much effort to this mechanic. Thanks to that the hordes of minions are much smarter (although they still aren?t very intelligent) and more deadly. They can participate in much larger battles and create various military formations (similarly to Roman legionaries). In this installment the followers can also break and destroy various environment parts, control war machines, sail and ride various creatures (like wolves). The title offers new locations in which the player can wage destruction. Among them there are the cold realms of Nordberg (filled with bloodthirsty seals), a hideout of magical creatures that are escaping from the Empire or cities and areas controlled by the enemy. Each location offers many actions and minor puzzles that must be solved with the help of the minions. Technical aspectsThe PC, PS3 and X360 version of the game uses attractive graphics and sounds. It has light and humoristic style that is mostly seen in the behavior of the minions ? they are very funny and clumsy. Last updated on 07 April 2017
