The idea for the game was devised during one of the game jams, and the prototype version was released for free and is known as The Way of Life Free Edition. PlotIn The Way of Life: Definitive Edition, the players assume control of three heroes: an old person, an adult, and a child. The protagonists, who see the world in different ways, have to face various life-related problems, such as euthanasia, death penalty, love, and discrimination. In the course of the game, we have to undertake over seventy decisions, which influence the story and its ending. The non-linear structure of the story definitely adds to the replayability factor of the game. MechanicsThe Way of Life: Definitive Edition contains over thirty levels. Each hero is controlled from the first person perspective. The game contains elements known from adventure games, walking simulators and platform games, but the available mechanisms are based on the individual capabilities and limitations of the currently chosen character. For example, the world seen through child?s eyes is colorful, a mature person sees the world in shades of grey. A child can easily climb encountered obstacles, while an old person walks slowly, swinging from one side to the other.
