Game description:
AirMech Arena is a console version a strategic game AirMech, which originally debuted on PC. The title combines elements of classic real-time strategy games and old-school shooters with the mechanics of modern MOBA games, where fantasy characters get replaced by futuristic mechs. AirMech series is a debut project of an American independent studio Carbon Games, whereas the publisher of the console version of the game is Ubisoft company. Gameplay concentrates on multiplayer skirmishes, in which two teams of 2-3 players are put up against each other. Following the pattern set by typical RTS?s, the game requires you to expand your base and develop its military power through production of various types of units, the ultimate goal being destruction of enemy base. You control your units by giving them simple commands of attack or defense. At the same time, however, you control the main combat unit ? the titular AirMech, useful for both engaging the enemy directly, as well as supporting ground troops. This machine may transform into a modern fighter or a heavy mech. In the latter case, it can personally jump into action, and eliminate ground units and enemy buildings. In turn, while in fighter mode, it can engage air targets, or transport its own units, vehicles, and turrets. Each game ends with the destruction or taking over all bases of one of the teams. The key to victory, is skillful use your AirMech?s abilities, and focusing on taking over enemy bases, which speeds up the process of collecting resources needed for expanding your army. In every battle you gain experience points, which allow you to unlock ever stronger units. AirMech Arena offers classic competitive play in deathmatch mode, or co-op, where players combine their forces in order to repel waves of enemy AI. There is also an extensive single player campaign for fans of solo play. The game?s artwork resembles classic science fiction RTS games from 1990?s, like Total Annihilation. Although AirMech Arena was originated on PC, its console version had controls designed from scratch with gamepads in view. The easy controls and fast-paced action should therefore appeal to console players, among whom strategy games usually do not enjoy much popularity.
