Game description:
Wild Side is an action adventure game with clearly defined survival elements. The game was developed by VeCube Studio, an independent Polish company. The title began as a one-man project, who soon involved other artists in the works. PlotThe action of Wild Side is set in Poland in the 1980s. We play the protagonist who lost control over his glider and crashed in the forests of Bieszczady. After regaining consciousness, the protagonist discovers that he is trapped in the wilderness. As if that wasn't enough, his radio station, through which he could call for help, has been destroyed. In order to survive, he has to start a trek through the forest and face the dangers lurking there. How the adventure ends depends on our actions and decisions we make. MechanicsThe action in Wild Side is observed most of the time from a TPP view. However, the camera changes perspective when interacting with the environment, creating items and using weapons, showing these activities from the first person perspective (FPP). While wandering through the Bieszczady forest, first of all we have to take care of the protagonist's hunger. The main source of food are fruits and mushrooms found along the way, but relying only on them is unlikely to get us far. For this reason it quickly becomes necessary to search for valuable resources. With their help we can make useful tools, such as a fishing rod, which will allow us to enrich our diet with fish (if we also manage to get bait in the form of dug worms or insects found in the forest). In addition, the crafting system implemented in the game allows us to create weapons; while the bow is great for hunting (for example, deer or hare), a simple spear can be used for defense (for example, against bears or boars). The hero can climb on rocks, which allows him to get to places that are difficult to reach; moreover, self-made footbridges and ladders make exploration easier. When he has a weapon, fighting wild animals is not a big problem. However, with time he begins to get weaker, becoming slower and less resistant to damage. Only food and rest allow him to replenish his weakened strength. In order to afford the latter, we need to build a more or less makeshift shelter. Admittedly, a simple tent and a bonfire lit with the help of a primitive flint will suffice temporarily, but if we want to ensure our full safety, we should take care to create a real base, with a hut or a rack for important items. Technical aspectsWild Side runs on Unreal Engine technology. The game features high quality, realistic graphics, with very well rendered vegetation, changing weather conditions and a full day cycle.
