Metroid: Samus Returns for 3DS is a remastered and thoroughly remodeled version of Metroid II: Samus Returns that was originally released on Game Boy in 1991. The modern version was developed by MercuryStream Entertainment, creators of games like the well-received Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. PlotSamus Aran, an intergalactic bounty hunter who fights with space pirates, is the protagonist here, just like in many other Metroid games. This time she ends up on the planet SR388 where she has to destroy the titular metroid creatures before her enemies get a hold of them. MechanicsAction in Metroid: Samus Returns for 3DS is presented from the side. Gameplay focuses on exploration of various vast and nonlinear levels. Given the fact that we are playing an installment of the series that created the metroidvania genre, gaining access to new locations requires us to meet specific conditions, in this case is killing a specific number of enemies.
