The Universim for PC is an unusual real-time strategy game in which we assume control of an uncivilized tribe and guide it to become a galactic empire. The game is a debut project of Crytivo Games. MechanicsThe project was based on the basics seen in other grand-scale strategy games. As a result, we assume control over a primitive society with an ambition to reach the stage of a galactic empire. In opposition to games such as Sid Meier?s Civilization, The world of The Universim consists of more than one planet, and offers the ability to take over entire star systems. We begin the game with a primitive tribe. Conducting research enables us to transform and lead our society into new eras, ending with the ability to space travel. Nevertheless, the game was designed to offer a lot of freedom and different ways of attaining this goal. Moreover, we are left with a number of elements seen in real-time strategy genre, including city building, resource gathering, or creating healthy economies. As the game progresses, these previous stages are gradually taken over by the AI, enabling us to manage large galactic empires with the required ease. For example, our role limits itself to choosing the land that will serve as a base of a new metropolis, while the AI takes care of building the necessary structures. The final stages of the game introduce a number of new features. We discover a lot of alien planets ? each one has to be researched and investigated before creating the first colony, as any negligence on this part can prove to be tragic for the colonists. The gameplay is also varied by dynamic events, including natural disasters, alien visits, or epidemics of twelve different viruses, each with a different course and outcome.
