Devoid of Shadows is an action RPG featuring multiple roguelike elements developed by N-Game Studios. The game is available on PC. PlotThe action of Devoid of Shadows is set in the fantastical land of Galidon ? a realm of vampires, in which a player assumes the role of a crown prince, who on the day of his coronation was supposed to fall victim of an assassination. He managed to escape to safety through the underground tunnels created by his ancestors. His task is to investigate the secrets of the vast labyrinths and discover the source of an ancient force hidden deep underground. MechanicsWhen playing the PC release of Devoid of Shadows, one starts his adventure from selecting one of the three available characters, each one featuring a unique set of skills ? a warrior Adelard, a rogue Celine, and a magician Regard. A player observes the action from the top-down perspective ? the developers put a strong emphasis on exploring consecutive dungeon levels (totaling to 21 locations), completing both story and side quests, eliminating multiple adversaries (these include both humanoids and various monsters), and developing the main protagonist. The dungeons are generated procedurally, thus each playthrough makes a player visit new rooms, eliminate different enemies, and gather diversified pieces of gear ? all this increases the replayability of the game. Moreover, players get at their disposal a shelter, where they can teleport their character using a magical painting that was given to the main protagonist by his mentor. This ?hand-held? castle can be expanded with multiple stores (where the main protagonist can acquire new pieces of equipment), workshops (such as forges, armories, and alchemy labs), and a coffin (allowing the character to rest and regenerate his strength). During combat, one can use a wide selection of arms, spells, and special abilities (each character has nineteen unique skills), parameters of which can be developed along with the in-game progress. While a player can improve the equipment (weapons, armor, and magical scrolls) at the aforementioned workshops using the elaborate crafting system, particular abilities can be developed by killing the opponents and draining the energy from their blood. Moreover, upon reaching a higher level, one acquires a number of points, which can be spent on improving particular features of the main protagonist.
