Game description:
Silverball is a commercial version of the popular shareware game Epic Pinball, which is a simulator of popular saloon slot machines, commonly called flippers. In the game, however, we will find only a modest part of the impressive number of tables, prepared by James Schmalz and his Digital Extremes studio. The remaining dozen or so saw the light of day thanks to Epic Pinball (published in our country under the name of Fliper). Silverball was created on exactly the same engine as its predecessor and in a sense it is the same game with a different, limited set of tables. The game uses the classic top-down perspective. During the game we can see only a part of the table on the screen, and the camera shows only the part on which the ball is currently placed. The game consists in gaining as many points as possible by performing subsequent tasks consisting in hitting specific ramps and bumpers in a given order. Raster graphics in 320x240 resolution presents a high level of workmanship for its time. The tables are colorful and full of details, and the rules of scoring on each of them is introduced by a detailed instruction. Up to 4 players can participate in the game at the same time, competing with each other alternately. Silverball has four unused Epic Pinball tables at its disposal: Fantasy, Blood, Snooker Champ and Odyssey, each in a slightly different style. In the later release of the game, known as Silverball Plus 2 we will also find Duel and Warbot tables. However, they are only modified versions of the Magic and Excalibur tables known from Epic Pinball. As a result of programmers' errors, or their deliberate action, in some versions of the program after a small interference in the game files, we can also get access to a hidden table called Nova.
