Goosebumps: The Game for PC, PS3 and etc. is a point-and-click adventure game featuring horror elements and based on a series of popular books for children written by R.L. Stine. The game was created by WayForward Technologies an experienced team popular mainly for DuckTales Remastered. It is worth adding that Goosebumps: The Game is the fourth title set in the Goosebumps universe, after DreamWorks' products released in the years 1996-1997, and 2008's Goosebumps: HorrorLand, which came out for consoles only. PlotThe player assumes the role of a kid whose usual way back home from school gets altered one day, because monsters have taken control over the neighbourhood, which used to be a peaceful area. Werewolves are lurking in a nearby forest, little gnomes are sneaking past one's feet and scarecrows walk the streets at midnight. As it turns out however, these are not ordinary monsters, for they represent different characters from stories written by R.L. Stine, that have somehow managed to go beyond the literature. The monsters seek revenge and cause mayhem on the streets. The protagonist explores the neighbourhood they know very well, discovers secrets of the Dead House that is plunged in darkness, but also encounters ghosts hiding in a local supermarket when it is closed. In the finale, the player has to face the ominous Slappy, that is, the leader of the monsters. The player's goal is to stop this evil being before it is too late. MechanicsGoosebumps: The Game for PC, PS3 and etc. is a point-and-click adventure game based on patterns known from the classis. The player has to make use of their wits when exploring subsequent, dangerous locations. Gathering items and combining clues together to propel the story forward. The Head-Up Display implemented here was inspired heavily by the classics of the genre ? on the right part of the screen, one will find the equipment menu with all the items the player has gathered and that can help them to advance in the game; on the bottom, the game displays descriptions of the locations explored and items examined, as well as speech bubbles accompanying the in-game dialogues. Technical aspectsThe release of Goosebumps: The Game for PC, PS3 and etc. coincided with the debut of a feature film directed by Rob Letterman and starring Jack Black (he took on the role of R.L. Stine). The game did not follow the film's footsteps as it comes to the visual style, however.
