MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies is a hack'n'slash game and a spin-off of the Hyperdimension Neptunia series. The title is the second representative of the series, after Hyperdimension Neptunia U, being a typical action game, and not a classic jRPG. Japanese companies Idea Factory and Compile Heart are responsible for creating the brand, which was born in 2010. Just a few years after its inception, a total of more than ten different Hyperdimension games have been released on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. The developer of MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies is the Japanese studio Tamsoft. Established in 1992, the developer has created dozens of console productions, many of which have never been published in the West. Today, the devs are best known for the Senran Kagura adventure / arcade game series. StoryIn line with the tradition of the series, the story in MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies is not directly related to any of the predecessors, but presents another alternative universe. Players once again follow the lives of female characters who are personifications of popular consoles, brands and game genres, as well as Japanese development studios. This time, however, the protagonist of the game is not the clumsy Neptunia, but the usually quiet Blanc, which until now played a secondary role in the series. All the heroines are students of the all-female Gamicademi school, which is supposed to prepare them for life in the world of ordinary people. However, the honored academy is past its prime and may be closed. The girls come up with an idea to make a film about zombies, which will help to promote the institution. In unexplained circumstances, however, the school is attacked by actual undead. The protagonists decide not only to face them, but also to capture the whole thing in the camera lens. As usual, all cut-scenes were made in visual novel form. As a curiosity, the scenario of the game was based in large part on the Japanese spin-off series of books. MechanicsMegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies uses an improved combat system, compared to Hyperdimension Neptunia U, which resembles the aforementioned Senran Kagura, as well as representatives of the Dynasty Warriors series. The action is observed from TPP, having us move freely through uncomplicated three-dimensional levels, resembling closed arenas. The campaign was divided into missions, separated by cut-scenes. On the battlefield we control one of the two heroines, while the other is controlled by the AI. Players can freely switch between both characters. Each has its own unique special attacks and abilities, as well as combos, which are activated by pressing the attack buttons at the appropriate pace. When the heroines are injured, their outfit is gradually destroyed. At the same time, however, they receive offensive bonuses and penalties to defense. Game modesMegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies offers a multiplayer mode for up to four people. Multiplayer missions have unique goals and opponents who do not appear during the story campaign. Technical aspectsThe game uses the unmodified Hyperdimension Neptunia U engine, as well as three-dimensional models designed with the main installments of the series in mind.
