Future Wars: Adventures in Time is the first adventure game by Delphine Software from the so-called Cinematique series. They were mainly characterized by the use of a "point & click" interface, which was still rare at the turn of the eighties and nineties. The program will allow you to take on the role of a window-cleaning worker in skyscrapers, who accidentally discovers a time travel machine in the back office of his boss. By escapades into the past and the future, he will have to stop the invasion of aliens and save a beautiful girl. Operation of the game is trivial and boils down to the use of a pop-up menu, which can be opened by right-clicking. First we choose a specific action, then we point to the object on the screen that interests us and the hero obediently (or not) executes our command. A curiosity is that Delphine Software programmers delineate the options for using objects: one of them applies only to the buckles that are in our inventory, the other to the interactive background elements, e.g. buttons. Initially it may cause a lot of confusion, but you can quickly get used to this unconventional solution. The scenario, although not specifically original, is so interesting that Future Wars: Adventures in Time is a pleasure to solve further riddles. The only difficulty in moving the action forward is the microscopic size of objects, which can be easily overlooked and sometimes there is no logic in their use. It's also annoying to have to place the hero close to the thing you want to pick up or use. The audiovisual setting is quite good, especially considering the year in which the programme was released.
