Game description:
Super Tetris is a refreshed version of the legendary arcade and logic game prepared for Spectrum Holobyte by Sphere studio. At first glance we can already see a lot of changes both in the audiovisual setting and in the general concept. The standard rules of the game have not changed much we still have to control the elements falling down to the well (six types), adjust them and make lines out of them, which then disappear. Here, however, the similarities end. In addition to the blocks, there may also be bombs on the screen that destroy the player's selected elements of a complex construction or lightning, devastating the first level encountered. In addition, the well in which you will come to lay blocks is already at the very beginning of the game filled to the half, together with difficult to eliminate holes. So what is it all about? O the same as in the classic Tetris, except that descending below the half level and filling it with blocks will successively reveal a picture located in the lower part of the well. If we manage to recreate it as a whole, we move on to the next stage and there, as we know, the elements move faster and become more and more difficult. Super Tetris, with its excessively complex gameplay rules, evokes mixed feelings. Surely it is a nice development of the classic idea and it is good that Spectrum Holobyte did not go for an easy game serving a heated cutlet, but on the other hand the bizarre rules of play kill the spirit of the legendary game. Another disadvantage is the small size of the well and the unfortunate location of the well on the left side of the screen. Thanks to this treatment, it was possible to show decent backgrounds (depicting scenes from the life of the Moscow circus), but it is not about such amenities. Noteworthy, however, are the extensive configuration options and the possibility of a match between two people on one computer. Interestingly, players will throw blocks into the same well and, depending on the settings in the menu, help each other or disturb each other.
