Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy for PC and PSV is a classic dungeon crawler RPG set in an alternate version of the modern-day Tokyo. The title is a direct sequel to Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy. It was developed by Experience, a Japanese dev studio, which initially was focused on creating PC titles. Thanks to the success of 2013?s Demon Gaze, the developer started to release its products on consoles, as well. Practically all games by Experience are classic dungeon crawlers. PlotAlthough Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy is the successor of Operation Abyss, both games aren?t connected in terms of plot or characters. The story includes only slight references that of the game?s predecessor and shouldn?t negatively influence the experience of gamers unfamiliar with it. The action is set in modern-day Tokyo. The protagonist is a student at Hinowa Academy, and he?s accepted into the ranks of the Xth Squad that deals with exploring the mysterious labyrinth beneath the eponymous metropolis. MechanicsThe gameplay of Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy is practically unchanged compared to that of its predecessor. It is still a classic Japanese dungeon crawler. While playing, we traverse numerous labyrinths and underground, performing missions given to us by the Xth command. Starting out, we create our party of several characters, choosing from ten available classes (called the Blood Codes). The possibility of assigning another role to a hero, which gives them access to extra abilities, is a novelty. In total, there are 140 spells and unique abilities and attacks to choose from. Up to six characters take part in turn-based combat. Apart from monsters, the undergrounds include logic puzzles and traps that we have to avoid. Technical aspectsOperation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy for PC and PSV offers quite simple three-dimensional graphics to depict the interiors of the labyrinths.
