The title features a two-dimensional world that is observed from the side perspective. The gameplay is action-based and focused on exploration of connected locations and on combat with various enemies ? including powerful bosses. The player controls only Jack Frost, but he can use the aid of Jack?o?Lantern floating nearby at any time. His help is needed for getting through some of the obstacles. The game features some RPG mechanics like character level (it increases when player gains experience for defeating enemies) and mana points depleted while casting spells.
