In the game, players control the Marines team, which can be selected from eight character classes available in the game, with unique skills, statistics, strengths, and weaknesses. Such team is sent to locations scattered around Mars, on special missions to contain the virus before it spreads. During this time, the team gathers raw materials and necessary items, thanks to which they have the opportunity to create and invent items they use in combat including battle armor, artillery, grenades, and turrets. One can play The Red Solstice 2: Survivors alone or with friends. Multiplayer mode allows up to eight people to play at once. Depending on their needs, players can complete the adventure on their own but also join other players in the game at any time, sharing the created goods and conceived plans. There is also a special cooperative survival campaign for multiplayer games.
