Fire Emblem: Engage is a jRPG, whose characteristic element is tactical turn-based battles. The game belongs to the popular series launched in 1990 by Nintendo and Intelligent Systems. The gameplay does not deviate too much from the schemes known from previous installments, but the developers decided to reach for some solutions known from the free mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes. In this way, we gained, among other things, the ability to call for help from the previous protagonists of the series, some of whom received alternative weapons. PlotA thousand years ago, the continent of Elyos became the target of an onslaught by an evil being known as the Fallen Dragon. The four kingdoms united forces and, with the help of heroes summoned from other worlds, managed to repel the attack and imprison the enemy. Many centuries later, the seals holding back evil began to weaken, and the peace of Elyos was once again threatened. To the rescue of the world, the Divine Dragon Alear, awakened from a thousand-year sleep, sets out to try to defeat the resurgent adversary. Before that, however, he must travel across the continent to find magical rings with which he will summon the bravest heroes from other worlds. Gameplay mechanicsTurn-based battles fought on small boards return in Fire Emblem: Engage. After taking control of a unit, we can give it the order to move, attack or use a special ability. The key to success is to match the strategy to the type of opponents. With successive victories, our charges gain new levels of experience increasing their effectiveness in battle. The production also includes exploration. In the course of the game we visit different corners of the continent, learn about its history and inhabitants, as well as stock up on useful equipment. A novelty introduced in Fire Emblem: Engage are the Emblem Rings, i.e. magical rings that allow us to summon protagonists from previous installments. Thanks to this mechanic, characters well known to fans of the series, such as Marth, Siegfried and Celica, could appear in the game. We, on the other hand, gained the chance to inherit their equipment and skills. Technical aspectsGraphics in Fire Emblem: Engage is made in a manga style characteristic of the entire series. It is worth mentioning that Japanese illustrator Mika Pikazo, who also designed such virtual youtubers as Hakoz Baelz, Kaguya Luna and Pinky Pop Hepburn, is responsible for the appearance of many characters (including the Divine Dragon).
