Game description:
Excessive Speed is a top-down racing game inspired by classic Micro Machines style titles. Purely skillful rivalry was enriched here, however, with a quite substantial arsenal of power-ups, which can tip the scales of victory to our advantage. The production is the work of a native Chaos Works studio authors of the cult game Robbo. In the game we control miniature cars, and our goal is to eliminate the opponents and get to the finish line in the first place. The authors provided us with seven fictional, futuristic vehicles, characterized by different parameters weight, controllability, resistance, maximum speed and acceleration. While driving we use 17 different power-ups, divided into two categories. The first group consists of automatically triggered locators such as earthquakes, shields or damage repair. The rest can be used at any time and almost all of them (except for the jump and two types of acceleration) are used to plunge rivals. The arsenal is quite substantial: rockets, missiles and thermal mines, machine guns, freezing, oil, air trunk, etc. Excessive Speed offers the possibility to play for up to 4 people on a split screen and several types of games for a single player. The basic one is the route acquisition mode, in which we unlock the next stages (out of 14 available). We can take part in a single race, time trial or so-called bomb ride. The next mode is Grand Prix, where we race for money on 5 random routes. And finally the championship mode, in which we go through all the murderous stages, starting with two lives in reserve. The game graphics are colorful and full of fabulous special effects. Racing struggles are observed in a two-dimensional view from above, and the competition takes place in different sceneries: from futuristic cities, through mountain canyons, to the desert and desert. The routes are full of curves and treacherous curves, and most of them are two-level, which makes the upper parts of the track often obscure the view, making it very difficult to play.
