Stronghold Warchest is a set of two Stronghold games, namely Stronghold, strategy game taking place in medieval England, and Stronghold: Crusader which takes us to the battlefields of Middle East during the crusades. The set is enriched with 50 bonus maps and 8 new computer opponents to defeat. Stronghold is a mix of medieval castle builder and economic strategy game. The action takes place in the medieval Europe where the players can build new villages, develop them, build massive keeps and fight huge battles in which dozens of different types of soldiers participate. Our castles may be freely designed and constructed from various elements (towers, drawbridges, secret entrances, pitfalls, ballista, few types of walls, etc.) so as to defend our stronghold as effectively as possible and so the life within the town goes on despite the ongoing siege. Likewise, we create economic infrastructure of the town by building houses, lumberjack huts, marketplace, farms and other buildings which shall grant employment, food and money to our subordinates. One of the most important and most spectacular elements of the game are battles. Sieges are particularly attractive in which different units fight each other. Those include engineers, sappers, soldiers storming the walls with ladders and mobile engines (siege towers, rams, mobile shields, ballista and catapults). Beautiful graphics allowing to see the life of a town. Special system for resource management ? the villagers are automatically created and try to find employment on their own. Stronghold: Crusader is a sequel to the brilliant strategy game, Stronghold, which takes us to the Middle East in the period of the crusades (11th ? 12th century). Much like its predecessor, Stronghold: Crusader is sometimes referred to as a ?stronghold simulator?. The player may built a stronghold from scratch, ensure the welfare of his subordinates and soldiers, push back fierce attacks, and even conquer enemy castles. Other than different setting, Crusader offers four new campaigns, both on the European side led by Richard Lionheart and the Arabic warriors side led by Saladin. There are also new units, such as mounted archers, Teutonic knights, grenadiers and mobile ballistas, as well as a new strategic element ? water, and to be precise: its lack. Over 25 combat units.
