Game description:
RoboCop is the conversion of a two-dimensional shooter created for coin-op machines in 1988. The plot of the game is based on Paul Verhoven's famous film, in which Alex Murphy, a policeman murdered with cold blood, already as RoboCop declares war on criminals from Detroit. In addition to the whole mass of gangster bone marrow spoiled, the player will also have to deal with the OCP organization, whose members dissatisfied with the fact that the robot is regaining consciousness, will try to eliminate it at all costs. The program is divided into successive stages, in which we constantly move right (sometimes also upwards, but this only takes place during an attempt to "cleanse" a building). Enemies can attack from all sides with firearms, grenades and even chain saws. The player has to watch out for the development of the situation all the time and react at an express pace to any threats, otherwise a small amount of life energy will fall to zero and we will lose one of the three additional "live". At the end of each stage, the so-called "boss" will also be eliminated, i.e. the opponent who, like us, has a certain amount of energy, which should be successively disposed of by hitting a weak point from the pistol. As usual in this type of products, from time to time we will encounter bonuses, allowing us to increase the power of our weapons. Overcoming the two stages will take us to the bonus board, in which we observe the action from the perspective of the first person. As many targets as possible should be destroyed within a limited period of time. For completing the task we will get the number of points earned at the shooting range and we will regain some of the lost energy. Despite programmers' efforts, PeCet RoboCop looks exceptionally pale compared to other conversions. Graphics are very poor, which is largely influenced by the CGA mode used. Also the sound luminaire leaves a lot to be desired: PC Speaker is not able to give away what any music card is. Please let us know if you have any comments or suggestions regarding this description.
