Afterlight is an adventure game in which we play the role of an astronaut who is stuck on Titan one of Saturn's moons. The production offers an original story, dealing with the subject of mental disorders, as well as interesting graphic design (backgrounds and animated cut-scenes are three-dimensional, although the game takes place in two dimensions). The Spanish independent studio Silent Road Games (creators of Last Train, Brayhir, Pocket Duels, Stranger Treasures) is responsible for creating this title. PlotIn Afterlight we play the role of Xin an astronaut who, after a terrible accident in which all the other members of her crew died, is stranded alone on one of Saturn's moons, Titan. The woman has to carry out the planned mission on her own. But will she be able to cope with loneliness and loss? And does reality really look as it seems? MechanicsIn Afterlight we observe the action from the side from the side-scrolling perspective. The game is about exploring locations, finding objects and solving logic puzzles. As we make progress, we also learn more fragments of the story and develop the relationship between the heroine and the robot that accompanies her a medical drone controlled by artificial intelligence. Game modesAfterlight can only be played alone. The game does not offer any multiplayer modes the mainstay of the game is a single player campaign. Technical aspectsOriginal visuals are one of the greatest advantages of Afterlight. The graphics were made in the 2.5D convention although we are dealing with a two-dimensional production, the backgrounds make an impression of three-dimensionality. The unusual artistic style is inspired by the aesthetics used by the American architect Lebbeus Woods and combines subdued colors (most often different shades of brown), which are used to depict the locations with sharp, distinctive reds and roses (e.g. shining neon lights or diodes).
