Monster Crown is a jRPG inspired by the Pokemon series. This is the debut project of Aurum Studio, which benefited from the help of an experienced company Sodesco, supporting independent artists for years. We play the role of a boy or a girl setting out on a journey as a trainer of powerful creatures, recruited with the help of special pacts. With the help of divine symbols people and monsters can conclude an agreement that provides benefits for both parties. Unlike Pokemon and many Nintendo followers, the world of Monster Crown does not avoid serious topics. Instead of enjoying a carefree journey around Crown Island to become the best trainer in the world, the hero of the game often finds out that with monsters there are no jokes, and people have their dark sides too. It is up to the player to decide whether the character he leads will save the world from the return of tyranny, or whether he will be the herald of dark times. MechanicsMonster Crown is almost a generic example of a game inspired by Pokemon. During the game we explore the world (observed from the same perspective as in the Nintendo series), recruit and train more monsters and compete in turn-based battles with other trainers. We also interact with the independent characters we meet, from time to time performing various tasks for them. In contrast to Pokemon, the gameplay is not completely linear.The decisions made during the game can determine the fate of the world and its inhabitants, sometimes even leading to their loss. There are five types of creatures in the game, as well as five types of beasts and attacks, which work on the basis of a slightly more complex version of the rock-scissor-paper game. In addition to the basic monsters, we also get the opportunity to breed unique hybrid species, which inherit the characteristics of their parents. Another novelty is the synergy system, rewarding players for their skillful defense and lavishing around enemy games by strengthening another friendly creature attack. Game modesThe single player campaign is the main feature of Monster Crown. However, the developers have not forgotten to allow playing with other players. The game allows you to exchange your own creatures and fight between trainers in network mode. Technical aspectsIn terms of visual aspect, Monster Crown brings to mind older versions of the Pokemon series. The two-dimensional world of the game is observed from a top-down perspective, and the characters and monsters on the map take the form of simple sprites.
