Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is a remastered compilation of the original Tomb Raider trilogy, a bestselling series of action adventure games. It was developed and published by Aspyr Media, including Tomb Raider (1996), Tomb Raider II: The Dagger of Xian (1997) and Tomb Raider III: Adventures of Lara Croft (1998). It also contains the expansions The Unfinished Business, The Golden Mask and The Lost Artifact. PlotThe first Tomb Raider stars a young archaeologist, Lara Croft, who travels to Peru searching for an artifact called Scion. Though she succeeds, she's also betrayed and ends up involved in a much larger intrigue. Her journey takes her to such places as Egypt and Atlantis. In the second game, miss Croft heads to China in search of the magical Xian dagger, which is said to make its wielder almighty. She must hurry, as a power-hungry Italian mafioso is also determined to have the dagger and will stop at nothing to get his hands on it. In the third game, Lara seeks mysterious artifacts made from meteorite fragments, visiting London and the United States. MechanicsAll games included in Tomb Raider I-III Remastered make use of the third-person perspective. The stages are set in diverse locations, during which we'll face various challenges (jumping over pits, avoiding traps), solve puzzles (finding specific items and using them in specific places, finding hidden passages) and fight enemies. Lara will face hostile humans, wild animals and other creatures, some prehistoric or fantastic. Her arsenal includes dual handguns, revolvers, submachine guns and shotguns. The subsequent installments expand upon the first game's formula. In the second game, Lara has an expanded moveset, can use flares, drive snow scooters and motorboats. The third game introduces non-linear elements, letting us decide in which order to visit locations. It also includes stealth sections and new vehicles: a kayak, an off-road car and a quad. Technical aspectsCompared to the original games, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered features heavily upgraded visuals. The resolution, character models and textures have all been enhanced, making the environment look much more appealing. The player can switch between the original and remastered graphics at any time.
