The Alliance Alive HD Remastered is a refreshed version of the classic jRPG released in 2018 on Nintendo 3DS. The game offers improved graphics, but does not make any changes to the gameplay. Cattle Call (a studio also known from some installments of the Arc the Lad series and the music game Disney Stitch Jam) in cooperation with the father of the iconic Suikoden series, Yoshitaka Murayama, are responsible for creating this title. The role of publisher was played by NIS America. PlotThe age of darkness has begun. Demons caused a powerful cataclysm that decimated mankind and shattered the land. The survivors had to submit to demonic lords. To regain freedom will require a great revolution but will it be possible to rekindle the flame of struggle in the hearts of broken people? MechanicsThe Alliance Alive HD Remastered does not differ from the formula typical for the genre. We explore a vast world (where we can also find cities and dangerous dungeons), perform tasks for NPCs, acquire new, more powerful items and fight. The battles take place on separate boards and a maximum of five heroes take part in them. The fights are played in a turn-based system. To be successful, we need to make the most of the abilities of each character. As the game progresses, the skills of each character develop. The mechanics responsible for this is quite simple and intuitive the more often we use a skill, the faster it becomes stronger, but also the power of the opponent is important here. The player also has the opportunity to join several different guilds that can be found in the game world. Each of them has different characteristics and offers different benefits. Game modesThe Alliance Alive HD Remastered can only be played solo. The game does not offer any multiplayer modes. As in the case of almost every jRPG, the mainstay of the game is an extensive story campaign. Technical aspectsThe Alliance Alive HD Remastered presents itself better than the original from Nintendo 3DS as image resolution and some details have been improved. However, the manga-style visuals, typical for this production, have not changed. The soundtrack created by the Japanese composer Masashi Hamauzu was also left in identical form.
