Some Distant Memory is a two-dimensional exploration game, in which we play the role of an archaeologist discovering the secrets of humanity 300 years after the fall of civilization. The game offers a peaceful gameplay model, resembling classic adventure games. The title was developed by Galvanic Games (studio known from Rapture Rejects or The Rust Belt) and published by Way Down Deep. PlotThe action of the game takes place on Earth, three hundred years after the fall of human civilization. The player takes on the role of an archaeologist who, with the help of his AI, tries to understand what caused the collapse of humanity. MechanicsIn Some Distant Memory we observe the action from the side, from the side-scrolling perspective. The gameplay is based on exploring the available environment and interacting with various types of objects, thanks to which we gradually discover the plot prepared by the creators. The developers used an interesting mechanic AI, which accompanies the main character, often displays holograms, trying to recreate events from several hundred years ago. The more fragments we find, the fuller the memories become (putting them in the right order is a puzzle, which is one of the main tasks of the player). Game modesSome Distant Memory can only be played solo. The gameplay is based on a story campaign. The title does not offer any network functionality. Technical aspectsSome Distant Memory features pretty nice, two-dimensional visuals. Both the character models and the game world are represented by hand-drawn animated illustrations. The graphics use subdued colors, which harmonize well with the melancholic atmosphere of the game. During the game we are accompanied by a calm, atmospheric soundtrack.
