The Paris Dossier, released on AND and iOS, is an adventure game by Lexica Games. The title is available in a free-to-play model with microtransactions. PlotThe action of the game takes place in Paris in 1942. We play the role of a British spy known as Artemis, who is sent to the French capital with a mission to discover the identity of a traitor cooperating with the occupants. We don't know much about that person. Our knowledge is limited to the fact that they are high within the structures of the resistance movement and that their activities pose a fatal threat to all those who want to fight against the Third Reich. A local informant may have valuable tips, but a few days ago that person was lost without a trace. Our task is to infiltrate Paris while avoiding the Germans' detection and make contact with the resistance movement to find the lost informant and clues which will eventually lead to the discovery of the traitor's identity. MechanicsThe Paris Dossier is a classic adventure game, modelled on similar games available on PC. The actions are observed from the first-person perspective, and we move by jumping. While playing, we mainly explore locations, have conversations, collect objects and solve puzzles. They are relatively difficult, but less experienced players can take advantage of an extensive system of hints. Technical aspectsWhile creating the visual setting for The Paris Dossier, the authors focused on black-and-white graphics, based to a large extent on heavily modified photos.
