Game description:
RTL Skispringen 2000 is a sports game with the logo of a popular German TV station. The production of the VCC Entertainment development team is considered to be the first simulation of ski jumping in a three-dimensional graphic environment. The player plays the role of a participant of the prestigious Four Hills Tournament and takes part in a series of competitions held at the facilities in Oberstdorf, Innsbruck, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and (by mistake) Hakuba. The competition takes place in a group of 8 jumpers with different skills. The creators decided on an intuitively simple, but at the same time demanding considerable manual skills and good reflex control system. Manipulating the mouse, the player has to keep the right track in the inrun, get out of the threshold at the right moment, then control the position of the jumper's body during the flight, and finally land safely. The realism of the game is increased by elements such as changing weather conditions (wind, temperature, etc.) and five types of skis with different properties. RTL Skispringen 2000 visuals stand out from the competition by using a 3D graphics engine. Developers have also taken care of such details as the possibility of selecting one of the several camera settings and the repetition function, which allows to watch the recorded jump.
