Game description:
Field of Glory II is the second installment in the war strategy series based on the popular board game titled Field of Glory. The game described herein was published by Slitherine and developed by Byzanthine, also known for creating Sengoku Jidai as well as Pike and Shot series. MechanicsField of Glory II utilizes the formula featured in its predecessor, faithfully recreating the ancient art of war. Players once again get to command one of 48 factions and participate in turn-based battles waged on maps (which are composed of squares instead of hexes this time around) resembling the boards of the original game. Similarly to Field of Glory, each unit is described by several features such as training, ammunition, and close combat. Field of Glory II for PC introduces a new element in the form of the so-called Points of Advantage, which increase (or decrease) the chance for victory depending on such factors as the area of battle as well as units? weapons and formations ? this makes for an even more authentic representation of the diversification among the ancient armies. Game modesField of Glory II for PC offers several game modes starting from Campaign, which focuses on the history of Rome and allows players to assume the roles of famous ancient war chiefs, such as Julius Caesar and Pyrrhus from Epirus. Moreover, players can wage ancient battles following a specific scenario, on a chosen battlefield, leading a given faction, and having a preset number of soldiers under command. There is also a tutorial that allows players to familiarize themselves with the game, e-mail multiplayer mode, and the option to design new scenarios and maps using the special editor. Technical aspectsField of Glory II has been based on the same technology, the Byzanthine studio has used for their previous games, however, certain modifications have been implemented.
