Fortified, available on PC and XONE, is action game enriched with strategic elements. The production was a debut project of Clapfoot studio. This developer has also created, among others, Foxhole. PlotThe action takes place in the 1950s in the United States. However, this is not the USA as we know from history books. Instead, Fortified takes us into an alternative reality, based on old science fiction films from the middle of the 20th century. In the vision of the world presented by the authors, the Earth became the target of a Martian invasion. Aliens are aggressive and have advanced technologies. They are fought by brave American heroes, armed with the latest technology developed for the Cold War in secret laboratories financed by the U.S. government. MechanicsThe gameplay mechanics in Fortified, available on PC and XONE, combine elements of an action game and tower defense strategy. On each level, we must neutralize all enemy forces. They attack in waves and their armies are very diverse, requiring different tactics to defeat the invaders. We control our character directly using a wide arsenal of weapons, which require manual targeting, as in typical shooters. At the same time, the player is also given the opportunity to construct a variety of defensive structures, watchtowers, and traps that help them to defeat the aliens. Players can control one of the four classes based on archetypes from the movies of the 1950s. The available heroes are a navy soldier, a space gunslinger armed with a shotgun, a government agency employee and a warrior equipped with a jet backpack. Game modesIn Fortified, we can play alone or in cooperation mode for up to four people. Technical aspectsThe game offers attractive three-dimensional graphics, made in a slight cartoon style, which very convincingly imitates the style of science fiction films from the 1950s.
