Warshift for PC is a hybrid of a classic RTS, an RPG, and a modern 3D action game. It was developed by Cyril Megem ? an artist, designer, and programmer ? who, after 10 years of working full-time for several major producers, has decided to quit and focus on creating his own titles instead. The production debuted on Steam Early Access, which allowed the author to polish his game with the feedback from gaming community. StoryThe action takes place in 2062 on a colonial planet, Enigma, which is being attacked by an aggressive alien race that came from a parallel universe through the so-called Gates of Chaos. Despite that fact that the invaders did not possess material forms, they created a powerful army of droids by enclosing their own energy in advanced exoskeletons. This allows them to operate in nearly all environments and temperatures. A devastating, full-scale assault had turned Enigma, a world once teeming with life, into a giant desert, which, in turn, urged a reaction from the planet's governors, the Colonial Republic. It was decided that the best course of action would be to avoid risking any more human lives and dispatch an army of cyberguardians ? comprised of heavy battle machines as well as fast and agile drones, every single one of them telepathically controlled by specially-trained commanders ? to fight off the invaders. In the game, we assume the role of such a commander and our task is to retake the planet. GameplayThe gameplay of Warshift features two major aspects. The foundation of the game is a classic, Command & Conquer-style, RTS gameplay, where our tasks involve gathering resources, constant development of our base of operations, production of combat units and sending them to fight the enemy. There are 7 types of buildings and 16 different units available. The latter include AI-controlled ones (infantry and heavy machines) as well as so-called combat avatars, which can be developed in an RPG manner, using dozens of weapons and various enhancements. The game's second gameplay mode allows us to assume direct control over a unit of our choosing at any moment, which takes us straight to the battlefield, where, employing classic third-person shooter mechanics, we will make use of our units' unique abilities as well as all the enhancements that we have applied to them. Game modesWarshift for PC offers both single player and multiplayer modes. The story campaign consists of a series of ten linked scenarios that take place on the ground, in the air, on and under the water, as well as in space.
