Ecumene Aztec is an action adventure game with RPG, stealth and survival elements. It was developed by an indie Polish studio Ecumene Games, formerly known as Giantscraft. PlotEcumene Aztec is set in the 16th-century Central America, in Tenochtitlan, the capital of the Aztec state. We play as an Aztec warrior, who must either side with his people or the Spanish conquistadors in a war for control over the land. The choice is difficult, as defending Tenochtitlan means supporting the high priests' human sacrifice practices, while supporting the invaders could doom the entire city and all its people. Though the plot draws heavily from history, it's not based on facts. MechanicsEcumene Aztec is a third-person game. Players traverse the city and the surrounding jungle, completing quests for characters on both sides of the war. The protagonist is strong and agile, which comes in handy both while exploring, letting him easily climb the environment, and during combat. One must remember fast-paced combat is just one of the ways to deal with our foes. We can also sneak behind enemies and pick them off from hiding one by one, or craft and set up traps. As we progress through the game, we grow in power through sacrifices to such gods as Huitzilopochtli and Quetzalcoatl. Technical aspectsEcumene Aztec features rather decent visuals.
