Game description:
Lumencraft is a postapocalyptic action game with tower defense elements. It was developed by 2Dynamic Games, an independent studio from Cracow, Poland, and published by Star Drifters. PlotLumencraft takes us on a journey to the year 2221. The game presents a grim vision of the future, where the Earth's surface is uninhabitable and the rest of humanity is doomed to exist without electricity and light. The survivors see a chance for rescue in the high-energy crystals of a recently discovered mineral known as Lumen. Near to its potential reserves a base has been built, from which successive scouts are sent underground. Unfortunately, so far none of them has returned from this dangerous escapade, what puts the future of Earth's civilization under a question mark. During the game we play as one of those scouts and our task is not only to discover and protect Lumen deposits but also to face the dangers lurking in the underground. MechanicsIn Lumencraft the action is shown in top-down view. During the game we go underground and make all the corridors, passages and rooms by ourselves. At the beginning we have relatively simple tools, which makes the digging quite slow. With time, however, we gain new equipment that improves the process, such as dynamite, which destroys large areas of land in one go. On the way we have to be careful not to go too deep and, for example, not to dig into the lava, which when released can destroy the effects of our work, and bring us mortal danger. Of course, the dangers we encounter underground don't end with lava. There live creatures which attack both the protagonist and his base. For this reason, going underground we have to be both armed to the teeth, to kill hordes of monsters, as well as take care of the defense of our territory, deploying automatic cannons in strategic places. As we progress, we unlock new weapons, which increases our combat potential. Technical aspectsLumencraft runs on the Godot Engine technology. The authors implemented a number of their own modifications to the engine, which allowed them, among other things, to obtain huge possibilities of terrain deformation and destruction.
